What's the Puppy Starter Kit?

Our Puppy Starter Kits are designed to give new puppy owners—and maybe even teach experienced owners a thing or two—a head start on the most important information for raising a puppy. Raising a puppy is hard work! The first year of your puppy’s life plays a huge role in shaping the kind of adult dog they’ll be for the next 10+ years. We want to equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to help both you and your puppy succeed.

The Puppy Starter Kit includes:

  • Informational booklet on how to begin safely socializing your puppy before vaccines are complete

  • A detailed guide for introducing “body handling” at home, to prepare your puppy for vet exams, nail trims, teeth brushing, and ear cleaning

  • A Puppy Quick Start Guide with:

    • Vaccination Record Card

    • Puppy Training Class locations and recommendations

    • Recommended spay/neuter timelines

    • Weight tracking schedule

    • Monthly parasite prevention reminder schedule

    • Emergency veterinary contact information

    • Link to our Amazon page for recommended puppy training books, teething toys, and management tools for puppyhood

    • Brochures on pet insurance

If you didn't receive a Puppy Starter Kit bag at your puppy package appointment, ask your technician for one the next time you stop by!

You said that my puppy/kitten will need 4 boosters total. Are all of my pet's boosters included in the package?

No. The puppy/kitten package includes only the initial booster. Any remaining vaccines in the four-booster series must be paid for separately.

What if my pet has already had some vaccines? Does she still need the package?

If your pet has already received part of their juvenile vaccine series, please bring a copy of their vaccine record from the veterinarian or shelter that administered them. We will update your pet’s chart and continue the series where it left off. For example, if your puppy's shelter completed the 1st and 2nd boosters, we would administer the 3rd booster three weeks after the 2nd was given.

Even if your pet has received some vaccines, if they haven’t been cleared by a veterinarian as free of intestinal parasites, we still highly recommend the package. This allows us to ensure your pet is healthy inside and out.

For adopted or rescued kittens, it’s important to screen for highly contagious diseases such as feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and deadly illnesses like feline leukemia (FeLV). Early detection helps protect both your kitten’s health and the health of other pets in your home.

My pet has a lump, rotten teeth, or another issue I want removed. How much will that cost?

We do not have standardized pricing for mass removal or dental surgeries. The cost depends on the severity of your pet’s condition and is customized to each animal.

For an accurate estimate—whether for removing and potentially biopsying a mass, or for cleaning and extracting diseased teeth—we need to examine your pet in person. After a thorough physical exam by the doctor, we can provide a customized surgical estimate for your pet.
